Meet Cian
Cian O’Regan is a freelance photographer based in Cork, Ireland, specialising in sport, news, and landscape photography.
He is a regular contributor to The Irish Examiner and has covered major international sporting events including the Ryder Cup in 2023 and 2025, multiple DP World Tour events, and the 2023 Rugby World Cup. In addition to his international work, he also documents local sport, regularly photographing Gaelic football, hurling, and soccer at both club and inter-county level.
Notable coverage of political events include the State Visit to Ireland of U.S. President Joe Biden, and the Agreement 25 Conference in Belfast in April 2023.
Over the years, Cian has also developed a respected portfolio of landscape and astrophotography. His images capture the beauty of Ireland's rugged coastlines and historic landmarks under the light of the Sun, Moon, and stars.
Cian's work has been exhibited internationally, with his image of the International Space Station flying above Drombeg Stone Circle in west Cork currently on display at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C.
